Christ the King Sodality

Formerly known as Sodality of St Joseph, the group took on its new name as “Christ the King Sodality” in October 2007. The Office Bearers meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 11.30am. Currently, we have 314 members.

Our Commitment

  • To gather at funeral wakes at night to pray with the bereaved family members for the repose soul
  • To render spiritual support to the bereaved family members
  • To perform corporal works of mercy.

Criteria for Membership

  • Baptized Catholics who are parishioners of Church of Christ the King
  • Those who regularly attend Masses at Christ the King Church
  • 21 years and above

Types of Membership

There are two categories of Membership:

  • Ordinary membership (those who joined before 1 January 2006)
  • Auxiliary membership (those who joined from 1 January 2006)

Benefits (When a Member dies)

Ordinary Member

  • Up to three (3) nights of prayers at the funeral wake
  • Three (3) Requiem Masses for the repose soul
  • Transport to bring members to the wake – cost is borne by Sodality.  However, if the wake is held outside Ang Mo Kio, the bereaved family will bear the additional transport cost

Auxiliary Member

  • Up to three (3) nights of prayers at the funeral wake
  • Three (3) Requiem Masses for the repose soul
  • Transport to bring members to the wake – cost is borne by the bereaved family

Other Benefits

All members will enjoy the common social benefits, ie

  • Members attending various activities organised by Sodality will be charged accordingly
  • Subsidies will also be enjoyed, subject to approval at the Office Bearers Monthly Meeting and active participation at funeral wakes.
