Theatre of Gifts

Take my life and let it be, Consecrated Lord to thee
Take my moments and my days, Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands and let them move, At the impulse of they love
Take my feet and let them be, Swift and beautiful for thee.
Take my voice and let them sing, Always only for my king
Take my lips and let them be, Filled with messages from thee.
Take my intellect and use, Every power as thou shall choose
Take my self and I will be, Ever only all for thee.

The Theatre of Gifts was formed on 2nd November 1991, by a group of youth with a passion for the performing arts. We were one of the first few youth ministries to be formed in Christ the King and the only one centred in evangelising God’s word through dance and drama. Till now, we strive to carry on that same mission and we believe in using our bodies as instruments to carry out the calling that God has given to us.

We take our inspiration from the bible and transform His word into performances that can reach out to and be enjoyed by all. It is amazing how people’s hearts can be touched by just a simple skit which they can relate to.

Besides the skits we perform throughout the year at youth masses and other various parish events like the Lenten Program in 2012, we also have other key events in our calendar. These include the Passion Play, Recitals (where we gather with our friends and family to show our love for God in the small items that we have prepared) and Celebration of Gifts for the catechism youth.

However we aren’t just a group of ‘drama mamas’ and we aim to share our passion for the theatre with other people. One major way we do this is through our annual Children’s Drama Workshop.

Throughout the 3 days of the workshop, we teach the children lessons from the bible through fun activities involving dance and drama. We ourselves continuously hone our theatre skills by having drama input sessions, attending drama workshops and going together as a group to watch plays and performances.

Friendship plays a big part in our closely knit group and besides the retreats and camps that we have at least once a year, we also have regular TOG outings for us to relax and spend some time together.

Join Us!

Our weekly meetings and prayer sessions are held in church on Fridays from 7:30pm to 10pm, and rehearsals are held on Saturdays.

We welcome all youths aged 13 years and above to join us. No prior experience in the field of acting is required; all you need is a love for God’s words and his people.
